TED LITTLEMORE

Ted Littlemore is a Berlin-based Canadian contemporary dance artist and choreographer, who specializes in the integration of dance with music and drag. 

 

Ted began his artistic career on the piano, playing from the age of 3. He trained in the Royal Conservatory of Music syllabus, before transitioning to jazz, through which he was invited to perform competitively in several national ensembles. Ted attended McGill University, where he served as the director, arranger and baritone in McGill’s oldest student choir, TX A Cappella. He also toured with the Shari Ulrich Folk trio from 2010-2013, as a pianist, vocalist, and accordionist.

 

After earning a B.A. in Psychology, Music Theory and Economics, Ted shifted his studies to dance, studying in Vancouver and New York City. He graduated from Modus Operandi Contemporary Dance Program in 2018, under the direction of OutInnerspace Dance Theatre's Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond, and Kate Franklin.

 

Since graduating, Ted has worked as a dancer and choreographic collaborator in numerous dance and opera companies in Canada, USA, and Berlin, including Action at a Distance, Alexis Fletcher, Compagnie Vision Impure, FakeKnot, Joshua Beamish/MOVE THE COMPANY, Kate Franklin, Justine Chambers, Edmonton Opera, Kinesis Dance Somatheatro, Ne.Sans Opera & Dance, Nicole von Arx, Tara Cheyenne Performance, and the Vancouver Opera. Ted also works internationally with Scottish choreographer Lewis Normand, with Finnish choreographer Tomi Paasonen in Berlin, Germany, with Paula Rosen's company, Haptichide, in Frankfurt, and with the Opera Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Italy. He is also a co-founder, choreographer, and dancer in his company, CAMP.

 

Ted's passion for teaching and choreographing shines through in his work with schools, studios, and professional training institutions. In 2023 Ted was recognized as YAGP San Francisco's overall Outstanding Choreographer, and his choreographic work has been featured in Vancouver International Dance Festival, Dancing on the Edge, BC Movement Arts Society, and on Lamondance and the Teatro Massimo Opera.

 

Ted's choreographic work often draws inspiration from his vibrant career in drag. Performing as Mila Dramatic since 2013, he (/she!) took the title of Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar in 2016, and continues to perform at local drag venues.
